New CS Series Radios from Falcon Wireless

We're guessing that you have NEVER seen 2-way radios as flexible, reliable, and affordable as our new CS Series radios.  Three great radios to fit the needs and the budget of every user.  The VERY affordable CS-STD (shown above) can speak for itself at the push of a button, talk on 800 MHz trunked radio systems (with an assist from our optional BlueBox), activate alarms and sirens, identify itself, and even duplicate the paging alert tone of Motorola Minitor pagers!  And it can do all these things for under $200, and that's just for starters!  Additional information is available by clicking here.

A special message for Fire Department, Hospital, Law Enforcement and School 800 MHz radio users

700 and 800 MHz trunked radio systems generally provide great coverage and a lot of user benefits. As for interoperability, it's pretty good for open standard P25.  For ASTROÒ 25, EDACSÒ, and SMARTNETÒ, not so good. As for cost?  Trunked 700/800 MHz radio systems are expensive to buy, expensive to operate, expensive to maintain, expensive to upgrade, and even the accessories like batteries and speaker-microphones are expensive! That's why we developed the BlueBox!

BlueBox is basically a thousand dollar gadget that links 700/800 MHz radio systems to low cost VHF or UHF radios. Want a couple of examples of how this can benefit your department?  We'll give you SIX examples in our free BlueBox Primer for Law Enforcement.  We also have primers for fire departments, hospitals, and schools. You owe it to yourself to learn more about BlueBox!  For additional information, just give us a call at 800.489.2611 or email ServingU@The-Communicators.net and request your free copy of our BlueBox Primer.  Just let us know which edition would best fit your needs - Fire Department, Hospital, Law Enforcement, or Schools. There is no charge or obligation.Get ready to be AMAZED!

Introducing the new ComFit Pro Audio Boom Microphone

Over the years, we have seen the prices of radios and audio accessories continue to decrease which is a good thing, UNLESS the quality, performance, and durability degrade at a similar pace.  The so called "surveillance headsets"(earpiece with lip microphone) are very popular with our church, gaming, hospitality, hospital, logistics, school, and retail store users.  Most are priced in the $30 to $50 range.

We have a new ultra lightweight headset that is priced in the SEVENTY dollar range (actually $69 for the popular 2-pin connector), and it's worth every nickel of the difference! It's called a ComFit Pro Audio Boom Microphone. We've got a short little video that will tell you more.  It only takes a few minutes to watch, and after viewing, we think you will agree, that cheaper is not always better.  Click here for the video. After viewing, give us a call at 800.489.2611. After you use the ComFit, we think you'll never go back to whatever you were using before! Models are available for most 2-way radios.  Give it a try - you'll see!

Attaboy Award to the New Orleans FCC Field Enforcement Office!

One of our customers, plus several others we discovered, were being interfered with by an unlicensed MotoTRBO user. The MotoTRBO user had a valid FCC license for analog operation.  Apparently his vendor forgot to remind him that moving up to digital had some legal responsibilities. Probably just an oversight huh?  Or do you think that maybe it might have been because the dealer knew that there was no way to get the system properly licensed at the power output sold due to the proximity of nearby  co-channel users.

Suffice it to say, that we found the offending licensee, contacted the FCC Field Office at 2:00 PM. By 3:00 PM the illegal user had been contacted and worked out a plan to QUICKLY resolve the issue. For all you folks that think the FCC isn't sensitive to illegal operation, let me tell you that they ARE, and they can, and will, act quickly.

If you are a MotoTRBO user, are you sure that YOUR license has been properly updated for digital operation? Guess what?  It's not your dealer's responsibility.  It's YOUR'S!  Would you like a free check to see if everything is OK with your FCC license?  Give us a call at 205.854.2611.  Who knows, maybe one day we can do some business together!  And as for you guys at the FCC office in New Orleans - Congratulations, you are the winner of the February Bouquet Award! Oh, BTW, the dealer who put this user in this position, and the trouble he caused other licensed users, and the time it took us to find the problem, YOU get the Brickbat award!

A message to Mayors, Fire and Police Chiefs - We can make your city a better place to live, work, and play!

We've got a system.  It's called SparkGap.  It consists of Hives, Hornets, and Harkeners. Together, they work to make your city a better place to live, work, and play.  A few of the benefits are shown above.  There are more! You can learn more about them by clicking here.

We can do some incredible things, like reducing response time from minutes (sometimes hours) to SECONDS!  We can help save lives and property while reducing the cost of providing EMS, Fire, and Police protection. We can free up your public safety personnel to deal with high level priorities while merchant and residential participants partner with you to help improve safety, reduce the cost of government services and insurance costs.

As the word gets around, your community will become a go to destination for new business and homeowners. That means more revenues and happy voters.  Here's some more good news!  The cost of system can potentially be underwritten by federal funding, private endowments and user cost sharing.  One of the funding sources available is the Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) program.  The application period for 2014 opened on November 3rd and closes on December 5th.  Additional information on this program is available by clicking here or just by calling us at 205.854.2611. Better yet, schedule a meeting with us for our Community Planning Presentation.  Your choice of meeting place - Birmingham, AL or Norcross, GA, and day (including Saturday) between now and the end of November. Your time will be well spent!

The Little Radio That Could.......

Remember the children's book, The Little Engine That Could? It was one of those stories of overcoming apparently impossible obstacles and winning against all odds. Now we have The Little Radio That Could.  It's called the PD362!

We got a call from a school principal the other day. His school  uses radios for bus loading, general administration, security, housekeeping, and maintenance. They had several problems. The current radios had dead spots (multi-building campus), the ladies (and the men too although they would not admit it) hated the current radios.  They were bulky with antennas designed to stick the user in the ribs. The batteries required frequent replacement, and the range had never been the same since narrow banding. But the BIGGEST problem was too much talking on a single channel!

Then we told them about the Little Radio That Could, the PD362, that could talk to the buses in the analog mode and PRIVATELY in the digital mode.  Not only could user groups talk privately, but all together when needed.  The lost range was recovered, the dead spots went away, the battery life was extended, and they had both voice and silent short text messaging capability.  Short text messaging gave administration personnel the ability to be notified and respond while in meetings.  And, the little radio really IS little, weighing in at less than six ounces with no stick in the ribs antenna! The Little Radio really COULD solve all their problems and it costs no more than their old analog radios.  Want to know more? Drop us an email to ServingU@falcondirect.com or give us a call at 800.489.2611. You'll be glad you did!

The KNG Series Radio By Relm Wireless - Built To Last A Long Time, like up to 82 years!

What P25 Radio Gives You The Best Value down the road?

Some would say, the Big "M".  Others (like us) would have a different answer. The fact is that there are four considerations used to evaluate "Value".  Let's start with where the product is made.  Made in America means American workers, paying taxes and purchasing goods and services in the USA.  Relm Wireless manufacturers just one thing - P25 radios, and they do it in Melbourne, FL USA!  They will be here when needed "down the road". We think that is important!

Now, let us introduce what may be a new term to you.  It's called Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF).  This relates to the time expected for the product to last based on the life of the individual components.  The KNG Series radios are built for a MTBF of 82 years of average use (or 721,058 operational hours if you prefer).  Putting it another way, 99.2% of KNG radios can be assumed to be failure free for the first year and 95% are failure free after ten years! So, the longer the MTBF, the more reliable the product.  Only Relm publishes this information.  Wonder why?

The third consideration is the purchase and maintenance cost.  Based on GSA pricing, KNG radios are hundreds of dollars less than comparable Big "M" products.  So it's good to save money up front, but what about "down the road"?  We know that the KNG radio is less likely to need repair so repair cost will be lower.  How much lower?  Consider this - The efficient repair of P25 radios requires highly trained (think expensive) technicians and VERY expensive test equipment which is generally beyond the means of the average radio dealers repair shop.  The result is that most repairs on P25 radios are made at factory repair depots with cost based on flat rate service.  A flat rate repair on a Big "M" portable is $394.  A flat rate repair on a KNG portable is $190, less than HALF the cost of repairing a Big "M" portable.

So far, a KNG radio is the clear winner on three of four considerations used to determine value. So how about the fourth? Glad you asked!  The fourth consideration is the cost of SUPPORT! Anyone who has ever owned a Big "M" product knows that you pay for firmware upgrades, software upgrades and technical support after the warranty period.  With KNG radios, you don't pay for support - It's FREE for the life of the product!  The winner by a knockout is KNG radios by Relm Wireless by any standard of comparison, but that's only part of the story.

There is a lot more to the Relm Wireless story.  If you like videos, click here for the story in short form. If you like charts and graphs and technical stuff in a downloadable file, click here. Or, if you would like for us to mail you a nice copy printed on high grade glossy paper, with a nice cover and ring bound for easy reading just give us a call and we'll mail you a copy - FREE! Our phone number is 800.489.2611, or you can contact us by email - ServingU@falcondirect.com. AND, if you would like a demo, that can be arranged as well.  You're gonna love the KNG P25 radios from Relm Wireless and Falcon Direct - GUARANTEED!

New Multi-Voice Radio - Full Duplex, Long Range, and No FCC License Required

Within the past week, we have received calls from a fire chief, a football coach, a manufacturer, and a large wrecker operator, all asking for the same thing, hands free, long range, personal communicators with a range of a half mile or more.

The football coach wanted secure communications (for obvious reasons) and the ability to communicate with up to seven other members of his staff.  He wanted guaranteed assurance that he would not run into interference issues anywhere in the USA and he didn't have time for FCC licensing. Click here for a short video made at the American Football Coaches Association conference last January to learn more about the product known as the Multi-Voice Radio (MVR).

The fire chief wanted the ability to integrate his existing 2-way radios with the wireless hands free intercom system and he wanted assurance that the system could be used in "harsh" environments where soaking water was the rule, rather than the exception. The wrecker operator wanted lots of audio since the noise level on major highways can be be very high.  The manufacturer wanted a special headset that provided full noise protection in one ear but left the other one open to hear local area activities. None of the users wanted an expensive headset requiring frequent replacement or a base station unit required for handling calls between headsets.

For additional information, visit the company web site by clicking here.  For pricing information, or to order with guaranteed satisfaction, click here.  If you would like a demonstration before ordering, just give us a call at 800.489.2611 or email ServingU@falcondirect.com

The next time you purchase a speaker-microphone, consider this!

The following is a letter recently received from the President of Stone Mountain, Ltd., manufacturers of the finest speaker-microphones money can buy.  We thought it was worth sharing.

70 years ago today, June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched the invasion, and ultimate liberation, of Nazi occupied Europe.  D-Day remains the largest seaborne invasion in history.  It's success significantly paved the way to ultimate victory over the Axis powers.  Stone Mountain's two Virginia factories are located one mile from each other - one in Huddleston and one in Bedford.  Bedford is also the home of the National D-Day Memorial, a non-governmental, non-profit, education foundation.  Dedicated in 2001 by President George W. Bush, it is located here because Bedford suffered the highest casualty rate per capita in the country during the D-Day invasion.

When I founded Stone Mountain, Ltd. in 2002, I wished to honor all those who fought in that terrible battle.  And I especially wanted to honor those 22 "Bedford Boys" who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Normandy campaign.  So I named my products after those Normandy beaches - Sword, Juno, Utah, Omaha and Gold.  In commemoration of D-Day, Stone Mountain will contribute 1% of all sales in the month of June to the National D-Day Memorial.

Respectfully,
Bill Jennings
President, Stone Mountain, Ltd.

We are proud to represent Stone Mountain products.  We have been with Bill since the beginning for several reasons - An American made product, offered at reasonable cost, designed for mission critical use, personally guaranteed by the manufacturer.  The next time you are considering purchasing a speaker-microphone, give us a call for a price on the incredible new Phoenix series. This is the speaker-microphone that does it all!  Click here for more information, then give us a call at 800.489.2611 for pricing.  Thank you!

The difference between Tetra and everything else

TETRA is an interoperable wireless integrated work flow management system - Everything else, including Analog, DMR, NXDN, and P25 systems are just 2-way radios.

So why do we say this?   Simple!  Everything else was designed for voice communications! TETRA was designed for voice AND data communications with 4 to 1 channel efficiency versus 2 to 1 channel efficiency for DMR and Phase 2 P25. The features that cost extra in other systems, like GPS, and Man Down capability are standard with TETRA. Additionally, integration with SCADA and advanced touch screen dispatch consoles are available that follow, select, and administer individuals and work groups.

TETRA is scalable to meet both current and future needs whether you are starting with a single site or looking at metro, county, regional, or even international coverage.  And, speaking of international support, TETRA is used in over 120 countries around the world and it is based on open standard architecture. Every TETRA radio, regardless of manufacturer, can talk to every other TETRA radio. No other mission critical communications system can offer this capability, including analog!

So maybe you've heard that TETRA is expensive compared to other technologies. Well think again! While it is true that TETRA is not your best choice for just a few radios, it is equally true that a few radios can be be served by a TETRA network at a cost comparable to DMR or NXDN.  Larger system users (250 units or more) with city or county wide coverage requirements can enjoy the benefits of TETRA radios costing approximately half that of P25 radios WITH INFRASTRUCTURE COST INCLUDED! And did we forget to mention that TETRA portables can operate in the full duplex telephone mode?

So if YOU are thinking about a new radio system, even if you are a small user, you need to be looking at TETRA!  For additional information on TETRA, just click here!  We'll be glad to tell you all about TETRA products, by Hytera, America's largest TETRA system provider.  Better yet, just give us a call at 205.854.2611. You'll be glad you did!

700 MHz Coming Soon To A City Near You!

Public safety communications users should be aware of the fact that each state in the USA has a deadline of June 13, 2014 to provide or be prepared to provide substantial 700 MHz service to at least one-third of the population of the state.  Those that do not comply could lose frequencies assigned for the development of a statewide 700 MHz system.

And, it gets more interesting!  By 2019, at least two-thirds of the population must be served.  We think this should be of interest to smaller rural counties.  Obviously, the state will focus on the big population centers first, but we feel that aggressive smaller counties are in an excellent position to request funding for single site 700 MHz repeaters.  This could be a win-win situation for the state, your county, and first responders that travel outside their home area.  An article providing more information on this subject is available by clicking here.  If you would like our thoughts on wide area interoperability, click here.

Black Friday at Falcon Direct

Is this the way you picture Black Friday?

That may be fun for some, but not for us.  We are all about great wireless products at the best prices around, but the shopping experience should be fun, rewarding, and with just a touch of excitement.

That is why we have our Black Friday. We call it Countdown to Christmas!  Here's how it works.......

As you may know, we have a eBay Store along with an Amazon.com store and our own on-line shopping store.  EZ-Shop is a site where you just tell us what you want and what you are willing to pay.  It's as simple as completing a form and emailing to us, but we've got an even bigger story to share.  It's called Countdown to Christmas.  You'll find the available products at our eBay store.

If you are new to eBay, let us provide a brief overview.  Depending on which door you enter, the view will be different.  The first thing we want to do is to get you to right place quickly.  When the store opens, you will see a drop down menu at the upper right hand side of the page.  You want to be sure that the Time: newly listed selection is display.  If not, click on the arrow on the right of the box and make this selection.  This will take you to our most recent offerings which are available at auction for a specific period of time, generally 10 days or less.

You have three options.  You can bid at any price above the opening bid, or you immediately purchase at the Buy it now price, or you can wait till the very last minute and try to submit a bit just a little higher than other bidders.  In most cases, our Buy it now price will be lower than you might be able to purchase the product for elsewhere.  Many purchasers will simply make their purchase and be assured delivery. Experienced buyers will put in the minimum accepted low bid price.  This is a good strategy and the seller will simply accept that price in order to get the product out of inventory.  That means you could get a SUPER deal if you need the product and are ready to purchase.   We are not saying that we will always accept the initial bid, but we might. One thing is for sure.  You can win the game unless you get into the game!

The HYT TR-50 is one of our more interesting offerings.  These are lightweight repeater stations that are great for temporary use, in in particular for restoring service in the event of an analog repeater failure. Two models are currently available, one with an internal duplexer an one without. The Motorola RKR1225 is available in the standard 50 watt configuration or with an optional 100 watt amplifier at terrific prices. Keep you eye on our eBay store throughout the Christmas holidays as other items will be added on a daily basis.

Narrow band problems - Get the cause and cure in our free eBook!

In recent weeks, we have received numerous calls regarding problems associated with narrow banding.  These calls are coming from all kinds of folks involved in unrelated activities.

A hospital user reports that they are getting bleed over on “their frequency”.  A golf course user reports that they have no coverage out on the course. An industrial plant user reports that all their radios are not loud enough and have a lot of static.  A fire department complains that they are not getting their page alerts, and a law enforcement agency states that their officers can’t communicate reliably with dispatch in critical and dangerous areas.

ALL of these problems were caused by narrow banding. Although the cause of the problem is common, the solutions can be quite different.  Not only can the solutions be very different, the cost for fixing the problem can range from minimal to significant.  That’s the Catch 22.  How do you know that your solution provider knows what they are talking about, or for that matter, is their goal to solve your problem or to make a big sale?

Let’s start with the premise that we KNOW what we are talking about. To prove that point we offer a free eBook that is yours for the asking.  If you would like your free copy of Narrow Banding 101 eBook Planner, click here.  We will explain in clear, easy to read language why the problem exists and how to fix it – not with a single solution, but with a CHOICE of alternatives!

Sometimes, a service call might correct the problem.  Sometimes, a change of frequency and/or location may be the best alternative.  Adding enhancements to an existing system can offer significant enhancements at reasonable cost.  In some cases, the solution may be to switch to digital, but before making that decision, make sure you have all the facts.

As some of our readers know, our primary focus is on safety – in churches, communities, industrial plants, hospitals, merchants, and schools.  We have accepted the responsibility of keeping others safe through the use of efficient, reliable, and affordable wireless communications solutions.  But first, you need to know the cause of the problem, then discuss it with someone you can trust.  We hope that someone will be us.  To order your free copy of our Narrow Banding 101 eBook Planner, please click here.  If we can be of assistance, just give us a call at 800.489.2611. We’ll be looking forward to hearing from you!
