Falcon Wireless announces CrimeBuster II for law enforcement!

Falcon Wireless has been providing effective and affordable law enforcement tools for law enforcement for many years.  We take pride in offering innovation, flexibility, and suitability for a variety of special needs for law enforcement agencies.  That is why we are especially delighted to announce the new CrimeBuster II portable wireless surveillance system!

The CrimeBuster II system consists of an Alarm Notification Unit (ANU) that works in conjunction with either VHF or UHF analog radio systems coupled with a pair of wireless call buttons, a pair of wireless motion sensors, and an air conditioning Tamper Monitoring Unit (TMU), all enclosed in a durable Pelican high impact, weather resistant carrying case.

CrimeBuster ii can operate from AC or DC power.  Set up can be done in just a few minutes with no special installation skills or tools required.  This unique system can be used by those who need temporary protection from assault or robbery, for premise monitoring at locations at risk of burglary, or to provide a means of detecting and reporting copper theft.

There is nothing else, anywhere, quite like CrimeBuster II, and the price is right - just $1,995 with no monthly fees, no requirement to go through third party monitoring or dispatch services, and no special additional cost for setting it up on existing VHF or UHF analog 2-way radio systems. If you prefer, we can set up your CrimeBuster II to connect to a wireless Internet router which allows alarm notifications to be sent directly to PC's, Tablets, or Smart Phones!

New MK-II Dual Band Portable, Just $149!

Here is America's newest, lightest, loudest, smallest dual band portable with 5 watts of power in both VHF and UHF - the MK-II from Falcon Direct. Most importantly, the MK-II is FCC Part 90 approved for commercial and public safety use.  Unlike "modified" illegal amateur radios sometimes advertised at lower prices, the MK-II is built to take tough use and it's legal!

This little radio is especially well suited for any use requiring operation on both VHF and UHF frequencies. It weighs only 7.2 ounces and it measures only 2 inches wide by 3.88 inches high by 1.1 inches thick.  That's about the size of a fat business card for a radio that covers the entire 136-174 MHz VHF and 400-470 MHz UHF bands.  It covers the new narrow band frequencies with 2.5 kHz channel steps and can operate on up to 128 channels including Amateur, Commercial, Marine, Public Safety, and Weather channels.

The MK-II is field programmable from the keypad with no special cables or software required. With 5 full watts of power, it scans  both VHF and UHF (dual watch) and has voice prompt channel announcements for channel changes - in real English that you can actually understand! CTCSS and DCS as well as ANI and DTMF encode are standard as is a 1800 mAh Lithium-Ion battery, desk charger, even a built in LED mini-flashlight and FM broadcast receiver!

The MK-II is covered by a one year warranty and qualifies for our exclusive Forever Young flat rate service program after the warranty expires.  If you need a combination VHF-UHF portable radio at the right price, THIS is the radio for you.  Oops, we almost forgot the price - It's only $149 including programming instructions and shipping.  Call us at 800.489.2611 to order yours today.  Or, if you want more information, click here.  To place your order on line, click here. You're going to like the MK-II - we guarantee it! And, just in case you are still thinking about buying one of those "bargain" radios, please click here from some interesting facts.

HelpBoxes from Falcon Wireless Direct

Have you heard about HelpBoxes?  Two different models are available!  The one on the left is a One-Way HelpBox (1HB).  That's Candice Staggs doing the honors of holding it up for a picture.  At the right, I am holding a Two-way HelpBox  (2HB).  Both have the same basic function - to get help in a hurry when needed!

Both units are battery powered by a half dozen low cost alkaline batteries that last for up to a year before replacement is required.  Both will send you a voice message over an associated analog 2-way radio (either VHF or UHF) when batteries need to be changed.

Both models are available with your choice of being set up on an existing FCC licensed two-way radio system or on an unlicensed  VHF radio frequency.  Operating range will vary depending on location, terrain, and type of radio system.  At the worst, typical range will be around a mile.  When communicating to a fixed station or repeater radio, the range can be up to 25 miles or more!

The 1HB model, shown at the left, can be programmed to send a recorded voice message at the press of a button, such as Assistance Needed at Location Seven.   The 1HB is our most affordable HelpBox, priced at just $325.  All of our HelpBox models are suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

The 2HB model, shown below) allows the person needing assistance to TALK to the one who provides help.  Simple instructions are printed on the front of the unit. The 2HB is simple, efficient and affordable.

Two models are available.  The 2HB-1 is just $908 complete with batteries and mounting plate for attachment to any flat surface or post.  The 2HB-2 has built in voice prompts.  The person needing assistance receives an acknowledgement message when they first press the button advising them to stand by for a response.  The receiving radio receives a voice advisory providing the location of the calling unit when the button is first pushed.  The 2HB-2 is just $1,085.

The 2HB-2 is also capable of activating a strobe light to draw attention to the location by other people in the area.  This is a popular feature for use on school campus or dangerous work locations.  The strobe light option adds $350.

A solar power system adds $765 to the price of any HelpBox model.  Want to see an example of a HelpBox in action?  Click here!  Want a demonstration?  Give us a call at 800.489.2611.  Burch Falkner - At your service!

Too good to be true?

GARY GEISSLER, A COLORADO-BASED IT SPECIALIST AND HIGH-TECH ADVISOR TO ARMY MARS, SENDS THIS CAUTION ABOUT A DANGEROUS BARGAIN IN THE 2-WAY RADIO MARKETPLACE.

THE BEST BUY THESE DAYS IN HANDHELD TRANSCEIVERS ARE THE ONES FROM HONG KONG. THE HTS ARE BEING PURCHASED BY AMATEURS, PUBLIC SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND OTHERS IN GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS. SOME VERSIONS HAVE FCC AND OTHER TYPE ACCEPTANCE.

THE TRANSCEIVERS SELL FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE OF COMPARABLE UNITS FROM THE BIG THREE YET CAN WORK ALL THE AMATEUR AND PUBLIC SERVICE FREQUENCIES FROM THE CIVIL AIRCRAFT BAND TO THE TOP OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE UHF BAND. THEY HAVE MANY MEMORIES AND FEATURES AND CAN BE PROGRAMMED FROM A PC. POWERED BY BIG LITHIUM ION BATTERIES (INCLUDED) THEY ARE A STEAL FOR $55.00.

OR SO IT WOULD SEEM.

I WORK FOR DIGITAL GLOBE INCORPORATED. AS OUR CORPORATION IS AN IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT CONTRACTOR WE ARE WORKING WITH THE USG TO RESOLVE ISSUED AS THEY APPEAR WITH REGARD TO COMPUTER AND INTERNET SECURITY. THE SOFTWARE TOOLS WE USE ARE AMONG THE STRONGEST AVAILABLE ANYWHERE (AND AS A RESULT, THE MOST INTRUSIVE AN PAINFUL!).

SO WHEN I PUT THE TINY DRIVER CD THAT CAME WITH MY [CHINESE] HANDHELD TRANSCEIVER'S PROGRAMMING CABLE INTO A MACHINE TO SCAN IT I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE DISK WOULD PULL AN IMMEDIATE ALERT. THE ALERT WAS SO STRONG.

THE CD WAS GIVEN TO OUR COMPUTER SECURITY DEPARTMENT. THEY WILL PROCESS IT AND FORWARD THE RESULTS TO THEIR USG CONTACT. THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND TIME I HAVE SEEN AN ALERT THIS STRONG. THE OTHER TIME (LAST WEEK ACTUALLY) WAS WHILE DOWNLOADING A .PDF RESEARCH PAPER FROM A UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER'S SITE.

LEST ANYONE THINK OTHERWISE, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK. ONE MIGHT SUSPECT THAT THE "REAL" OBJECT OF THE EXERCISE WITH REGARD TO THE VERY LOW COST OF THE HONG KONG HTS IS THE UNSEEN PRESENT ON THE CDS. I'M NOT A CONSPIRACY THEORY SORT OF GUY; WE CAN TALK MORE ABOUT THIS AT SOME POINT.

I MIGHT SUGGEST A NEUTRALLY WORDED WARNING TO DESTROY ANY DRIVER CDS THAT COME WITH HONG KONG HTS; THE PROLIFIC USB/RS-232 DRIVERS ARE AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE FROM US SITES AND THE PUBLIC DOMAIN OPEN SOURCE.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Commentary.......

I received an email from one of our readers in England today.  He was looking for a DMR compatible pager.  After receiving my answer, he made the following comment which I feel is worth sharing.......

I like the sense of community you seem to give the US fire services.  It's all gone a bit central government purchasing over here.

THAT, boys and girls is the ultimate result of big government and large corporations "working together".  It is not for the common good or business built on open competition.  Individual achievement has been moved to the third row (Click here for an interesting commentary on this subject).  In my home county, a single vendor has been given exclusive rights to provide all public safety communications served by a proprietary network.  The user suffer, the taxpayers suffer, and those who are served suffer.  Why?

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT PURCHASING!  Sometimes the business relationship is made at the city or county level through a user agency "teamed" with a major supplier.  Sometimes, it is an agency such as 911, EMA, or even at the state level.  Who benefits from this relationships? You already know the answer!

A single purchasing agent at the state government level can exclude a manufacturer from offering their products on a state contract.  It recently happened. A manufacturer was told there had been no call for their products although this manufacturer is one of top three producers of communications equipment in the world!  Who benefits from such policies? You already know the answer.

We recently cautioned a county EMA Director to seriously evaluate the offerings for a product that was known to lock out ALL competition.  Our advice was ignored.  Shortly after receiving the new system, a local agency wanted to purchase competitive equipment using the same "open standard" technology.  As it turns out, the technology wasn't so open after all.

The purchaser found that his equipment had been password protected (without his knowledge). This prevents other suppliers from being able to match their equipment to the system.  After getting the password, the prospective user then found that a high level encryption option had been activated which precludes the use of any equipment with the exception of a single manufacturer. The obvious question is WHO benefits from such practices? You already know the answer.

Now, the question is, what are YOU going to do about it?  Do you want to follow the path of our friends in England or do you want to stand up for the principals that made this country great?  The choice, and the consequences are YOURS!
