One
of the more useful solutions for improving school safety is
integrating a low cost wireless call button as a part of a school
intercom system. Linear Corporation is a leader in wireless personal
protection devices. These systems are efficient, flexible, and
affordable. That is why many schools are interfacing Linear
control receivers for access to the classroom PA system. The principal and
front office staff can use a wireless call button, such as the one
shown at the right, to alert the entire school at the push of a button. When activated, a distinct tone
is sounded in call class rooms to signal the need to go into a lock down condition.
These systems can be easily connected to most school intercom systems at very reasonable cost but they are limited in capability. With the same pendant transmitter, a school official can send the lock down code, PLUS sending a voice message to School Resource officers and/or local law enforcement officers PLUS sending a text message to PC's, cell phones, or Tablets at dispatch, adjoining schools, neighboring law enforcement agencies, even members of the local fire department!
