Communications Industry News!


Big news to report in the communications industry this week beginning with Motorola.  As some of our readers know, Motorola is in the processing trying to sell their Mobility business (cellphones) to Google.  Presumably, this will allow Motorola to spend more time and resources on their core business (Solutions, or 2-way radio to you old timers).  Got a problem though, sales are under forecast and there are still regulatory issues to address.  More news is available by clicking here.

News from Harris Corporation!  Harris recently joined the DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) Open Standards Association.  In conjunction with this announcement, Harris has launched a new line of digital mobile radios, named Momentum™.  These radios will be introduced at the Las Vegas IWCE communications trade show in February 2012.  Don't be surprised if these radios bear a great deal or resemblance to the Hytera DMR radios currently available.  I believe this is a process called re-branding.  As for me, I think I'll just stick with Hytera.......
